What is Oso Adventure Meals?
Oso Meals is a new type of food company. Black, Indigenous, and Immigrant Americans have long faced cultural and institutional barriers to participation in outdoor activities. Despite making up 40% of the country, they represent less than 15% of public land users. Traditional outdoor companies create products for, and engage with, an overwhelmingly white consumer. Nowhere is this more prevalent than with food. Today's backpacking meals consist of Euro-centric recipes (think beef stew) that are bland, made with cheap ingredients, and lack real flavor or spice.
Oso Adventure Meals is here to change that.
Oso Meals allows everyday adventurers to take their favorite culturally relevant meal anywhere in the world, making outdoor activities feel more welcoming and enjoyable. We are making products that fulfill the need for tasty, spicy, and culturally authentic foods in the backcountry.
What is Deep Water?
We believe adventures in the outdoors allow people to connect in ways we’ve never connected before. The wilderness offers the chance to unplug from the busyness of our culture and find solitude for healing and reflection.
We believe in experiential learning, a kind of “learning by doing” where our shared experience leads to reflection, discussion and discovery.
We believe in caring for each other’s souls. Internal Family Systems is a gentle, therapeutic modality that involves listening, asking questions and carefully walking with someone into the deeper areas of their life.

The Experience
On this four-day expedition, we will enter the national park on the morning of July 29 and meet at the Wild Basin Trailhead. Our first day’s moderate hike is just over five miles, during which we will gain 2,275 feet of elevation with stops at Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascades and Ouzel Falls.
We will set a basecamp at the spectacular Thunder Lake, which sits just above 10,000 feet and offers panoramic views of the12,420-foot Tanima Peak, 12,222-foot Pilot Mountain and 13,310-foot Mount Alice. In the following days, guided reflections will lead our discussions while we share meals, explore surrounding attractions and take in Rocky Mountain National Park’s astonishing landscape.
We will hike down and exit the park no later than 4:00 p.m. on August 1.
